The Software

INTHEATEX offers a serie of programs, each of which directed to a specific application. Finned tubes for heat exchanger design are choosen from a drop-down list prepared exclusively for each client, based on their own line of finned tube production or what is available on the regional market (diameters of tube and fin, fin pitch and thickness, fintube type, material combination for tube and fin, tube lay-out etc)

Steam air heater
will compute an exchanger to heat air by the condensation of steam

Air heater
will compute an exchanger to heat air by liquids such as hot water or thermal oil

Air cooler
will compute an exchanger to cool air by means of cold water, water-glycol mixtures or chilled water. The same program can calculate heat recovers - heating water or thermal oil by hot exhaust gases

Air cooled heat exchanger
referred sometimes as air cooler too, will compute an exchanger to cool water or process liquids by ambient air.

The programs provide automatically properties for steam, water, water-glycol mixtures, mineral or vegetal transformer oil.

Physical properties of non common fluids can be entered also if available. The user can define modular construction for the exchanger (multiple tube bundles). The user may enter a fouling factor for the liquid side.

The output of the programs lists all the operational data - required and computed - defines the complete exchanger dimensions, checks out tube thickness and provides thickness for tubesheets and headers against a specified design pressure according to ASME Section VIII division 1 (based on 2013 edition).

The programs are very easy to use, what permits a person with just basic knowledge of heat transfer to design safely the proper heat exchanger for a situation.

Based on decades of experience in design of finned tube heat exchanger for industry, the programs emit alert messages when improper parameters are entered, guiding the user to design a real, reasonable and economical heat exchanger.

The programs are useful for manufacturers of machines or designer of plants where the heat exchanger is just a component, as well as for those that furnish heat exchangers for end users or plant and machine manufacturers.

With this tool on hand, the designer of machines or plants that require a heat exchanger can simulate several situations during the development and optimization of the project in a interactive way, what saves a lot of time. This is the case of multiple stage compressor manufacturers, where intercoolers are an important part of the machine and the sizing of them is important for the lay-out and performance of the compression process.

Even if the machine manufacturer or plant designer will not fabricate the heat exchanger, they can define the mean characteristics desired before asking for the definitive design of the heat exchanger for a heat exchanger manufacturer.
